Rice for Nigeria

Delay in the Rice for Nigeria Project and a Request for Support

We have an important update regarding our Rice for Nigeria project. Originally, we planned to complete additional distributions in March, finalizing this phase of the project. Unfortunately, due to a lack of funds, we have not been able to proceed as scheduled. We are now aiming to complete this vital work in May.

Our goal is to purchase fifty 50-kilo bags of rice, totaling 2500 kilos. Each bag costs about 90,000 Naira (approximately $120 USD), which means we need about $6,000 USD to meet our target. Recent economic changes have significantly impacted our mission: the cost of rice in Nigeria has roughly doubled in the last year due to inflation and a ban on rice importation. This not only makes our mission more expensive but also more crucial, as many more families, especially in rural and slum areas, are in a worse situation now than they were just a year ago.

The rice will be repackaged into smaller 3 to 5 kg bags, along with spices, for distribution to those in need. If you’ve been considering supporting this cause, now is the perfect time to donate. Our volunteers are ready and passionate about continuing their work, eager to help distribute these essential supplies. However, we urgently need additional funds to purchase the rice and spices. Your support can directly enable us to move forward with our distributions. Please consider making a donation today to help us continue this essential project. See our past videos and events for more insights into our work.

Prosím, zvažte dnes darování a pomozte nám pokračovat v tomto životně důležitém projektu. Pro další

Community Support Day at Albert Hypermarket with AAA Global Care Foundation – 13th April 2024

On April 13th, the AAA Global Care Foundation, in partnership with the Prague Foodbank, hosted a significant event at the Albert Hypermarket in Harfa Gallery, located in Prague 9. Pastor Yomi and his team, dressed in AAA Global Care Foundation t-shirts and green aprons marked „Grocery Collection“, engaged shoppers by distributing flyers. They encouraged the addition of items such as rice, long-life milk, sanitary supplies, and more, to their purchases for donation. This was just a part of the broader range of essential items needed. The community’s response was overwhelmingly positive, with many filling carts with these vital goods.

From 8 AM to 6 PM, the team managed to collect approximately 1000 kg of food and essential supplies. These included not only the items listed but also other staples such as pasta, sugar, and baby supplies, all of which will be organized and distributed to needy families across Prague in the upcoming months.

This event is one of our four annual initiatives designed to garner community support and accumulate essential supplies for the less fortunate. The detailed flyers ensured that donations were well-directed and critically needed. Join us at our next event to help make a significant impact in our community!

AAA Global Care Foundation at Prague’s Riverside Homeless Camp

On April 5, 2024, the AAA Global Care Foundation visited the homeless camp along the Vltava river in Prague, bringing essential supplies to those in need. The team distributed cooking utensils, such as pots and pans, as well as groceries including rice and cooking oil.

This area by the river is a semi-permanent home for many who live in shared tents for shelter. The residents manage their day-to-day lives by cooking outdoors and doing their laundry in the open, maintaining a sense of community and resilience despite the hardships. The foundation’s visit helped to support their basic needs and draw attention to their situation.

A Memorable Meeting at the Prague University of Economics and Business

As an alumnus of the Prague University of Economics and Business, I had the pleasure of returning to the institution where I completed my master’s degree in 1985. I was warmly received by the current Dean, doc. Ing. Martina Jirankova, Ph.D., and the Vice Dean, doc. Ing. Josef Tauser, Ph.D., for a meeting on the 29th of November, 2023.

The occasion was a special one as the university had just celebrated its 70th anniversary. Although my visit was not directly connected to the anniversary events, it was a chance to engage with the leadership of the faculty and discuss ways that the university and AAA Global Care Foundation can work together in the future.

AAA Global Care Foundation and Pastor Akinyemi providing food to Prague's homeless community

Distributing Food Supplies to Prague’s Homeless, March 2024

Last week, from March 4th to 9th, Pastor Akinyemi and AAA Global Care Foundation took to the streets of Prague for a direct mission: to distribute food to the homeless. Their operation was simple – using their personal car, they provided oranges and packaged food to those in need across Prague’s districts 1, 5, 7, and 13.

These areas are recognized as common meeting points for the city’s homeless community, and the pastor frequently visits these locations. The aim was to offer a bit of comfort in the form of nutritious food. Oranges, a healthy source of vitamins, and various packaged goods could make a small but meaningful difference in the lives of individuals who often go without.

The efforts of the week were captured in a video montage, highlighting the quiet yet impactful work done by the AAA Global Care Foundation. The focus was on practical help, extending a hand in a time of need.

This initiative is part of an ongoing and regular effort to support and connect with the homeless community in Prague. By maintaining a humble approach, the foundation hopes to not only provide immediate assistance but also to build trust and relationships with those they serve.

After providing a homeless couple with groceries, Pastor Akinyemi assisted them to the metro, adding a personal touch to the day’s food distribution efforts in Prague.

Rice for Nigeria

Rice for Nigeria in Makoko Slum, Lagos

On January 25, 2024, the AAA Global Care Foundation hosted a significant event in Makoko, Lagos, starting before dawn at 5 am. Our day began with a visit to the bustling fish market in Makoko, a vital part of the community. While there, we captured a video showcasing the vibrant market life, though it doesn’t include our meeting with the Women’s leader where we introduced our team and discussed our mission. This video is available below for a glimpse into the local atmosphere.

Following our market visit, we used loudspeakers to communicate our purpose and share a message about the gospel of Jesus with the broader community. The main event was distributing 3kg bags of rice and spices to hundreds of residents. The feedback was extremely positive, with many people expressing their thanks for the support.

As the distribution concluded, the atmosphere turned celebratory. One of our volunteers led the crowd in gospel songs, sparking spontaneous dancing and smiles among the participants. It was a joyous end to a day filled with giving and gratitude.

This effort underscored the importance of supporting each other and the impact small gestures can have on a community. We extend our deepest thanks to all involved, from the volunteers and donors to the residents of Makoko, for making this event a success. A special mention goes to the Women’s leader for helping us connect with the community.

At the end of this post, you’ll find the video from the fish market, offering a look into the daily life of Makoko and setting the stage for our day of distribution and connection.

Check out the images and videos below to see more from the day.

February 2024 – Grocery Distribution to Homeless People in Central Prague

On Thursday, 15th February 2024, the AAA Global Care Foundation team returned to central Prague late in the evening to distribute groceries to the homeless. This event marked a significant moment, as Pastor Yomi had just come back from Nigeria, where he participated in the „Rice for Nigeria“ project, and the volunteers had been on a holiday break. The homeless community had keenly felt their absence and were genuinely delighted to see Pastor Yomi and the team again.
